Lynnwood, WA asked in Health Care Law, Insurance Bad Faith and Insurance Defense for Washington

Q: Is it legal for an employer to only give 24 hour health insurance paperwork turnaround time? We had no time to look

We had no time to look into our other options. At 24/hr, the premium is $900/month for a family, and it would only cover 50% and the deductible was insanely high. My husband filled it all out because he didn't want us to be without coverage. We searched around and found options for my daughter and I (pregnant) that is listed as starting the 1st of this month (it's the 28th). My husband asked to be reimbursed because we did not use the new insurance and found better options. Is there anything we can do? It seems so shady to me to force new employees to sign up with less than 24 hour turnaround demands.
