It was my understanding that the car is what is insured and not the driver.

A Washington attorney could advise best, but your question remains open for a week. Insurance carriers are within their rights to ask what other drivers of the vehicle are in the household. In terms of asking simply about household members, you could check with your state's department of... View More

I am a defendant in a lawsuit. I was served a package of papers today. I am on a time schedule. The papers tell me to contact an attorney immediately. I need to find an attorney. How?

There isn't enough information here to give a full answer. One critical fact would be what type of lawsuit this is. Based on the categories you've selected, I am presuming you are being sued for injuries stemming from a car accident for which you were at fault.
If that's the... View More

My vehicle had previous damage already from a previous claim with my previous insurer my current insurer contacted my previous insurer and obtained photos I sent for that claim and now they are stating that because my odometer hasn’t moved... A Washington attorney could advise best, but you await a response for three weeks. This sounds like a difficult claim, and such situations do arise when going from one insurance carrier to another, and a new claim arises near the start of coverage. If you've been issued a denial, review it if... View More

A Washington attorney would be able to advise best, but your question remains open for two weeks. If the card in question resulted in the ticket, it's difficult to say whether it would be adequate in court as a defense without seeing the start and end dates and times of coverage on the face of... I have a 5-year-old medical bill in collections from a previous injury that is in close proximation [on my body] (but not exact) to this auto injury I just had. Will this show up somehow and affect a possible case? It was in another state that I don't have a policy in or residency in.

Good question. Your issue is a common one in most personal injury cases. A reputable injury attorney knows how to deal with this.
You are only entitled to make a claim for the injury that was "caused" by the wreck in question. Whether that means a completely new injury or... View More
I am starting a children's event business where children will be invited to participate in events at their local park for 3-4 hours on a weekend day (approximatly once a month). It's like a day camp, but just for one Saturday a month. Potential activities might include: arts&crafts,... View More

Both types of insurance are important. The scope of coverage would depend on how the policies are written. There are general liability policies that cover bodily injury as a given. In the policies you are exploring, bodily injury coverage appears to be an add-on. These terms are sometimes used... View More

Check with the insurance commissioner. If the wreck wasn't your fault, the other person should be paying.
Need someone who can help facilitate the dealings with Sedgewick, who is Boeing's private insurer, because they can't seem to get things right on a case that has been going on for 10+ years. Had 5 foot surgeries 10+ years ago. Finally got fixed with 5th one. About 1-1/2 years ago,... View More

You mention a widely recognized and well-liked workers' comp carrier and working graveyard shift. This looks like a WC case - you've posted in good categories but if you add Workers' Comp to your categories, hopefully one of the WC attorneys could pick up your question if this is... View More
My friend was involved in a three car collision recently. She was rear-ended by a vehicle which slammed her car into the car ahead of hers. The same insurance company that insures my friend is the same insurance carrier for the individual's vehicle that slammed into her from behind. The... View More

It's handled by different divisions within the company normally. Happens all the time, but I understand what you are saying; it looks like a clear conflict.
Then of course if her carrier pays some of her medical bills, it can require compensation from the other driver's insurer;... View More
We had no time to look into our other options. At 24/hr, the premium is $900/month for a family, and it would only cover 50% and the deductible was insanely high. My husband filled it all out because he didn't want us to be without coverage. We searched around and found options for my daughter... View More
What I mean by this, is when using a calculator such as this one http://www.alllaw.com/articles/nolo/personal-injury/calculator.html

Forget the formula. That's bogus. If you lost an eye would 3 x the medicals be enough? No way. If you had one ER but went in as trauma and the bill was 19,000 and no follow up after, do you think they'd pay 3x19?
If your crash is serious enough to consider uninsured, you should... View More

Nope.

No obligation on the passenger.
I drive rural roads with wildlife from small to big to bigger. Deer often cross the road unannounced. I often have to slam the breaks to avoid a collision. Drivers behind me get pissed and have a near miss. Rural roads = barely patrolled. So drivers go fast and will drive where ever there is... View More

You aren't responsible for wild animals--no one is. As far as domesticated animals, the owner of the animal is responsible for them. In the example you gave I don't see why you would be at fault--the other individual collided with the deer, not with you.
