Lady Lake, FL asked in Civil Litigation, Consumer Law and Contracts for Florida

Q: I had my RV repaired and than placed on consignment with a company known as America Choice RV. This company was later by

purchased by Campers World. After purchase the America Choice sales lot was closed with all inventory, including my consigned unit, moved to a different location. During the inventory transfer, my unit was somehow lost. It was never listed as a part of the inventory in the new location. Essentially, even though I have all the paperwork, I'm told that it must have been stolen and that there is nothing they can do. I feel that Campers World, and their acquired company were negligent in the loss of my camper. As a result I have nothing to show for the RV that was lost through no fault of my own, save for the fact that I had entrusted the company to protect my property. I have our agreed upon sales contract. I am not wealthy. My sole source of income is from my monthly social security So this loss is considerable to me. I don't know what to do and would appreciate any advice you might suggest. Thank You

A: You probably have some legal recourse, though practically speaking, if it was insured, consider filing a claim with your carrier to recover for your loss. Otherwise I suggest you speak with a lawyer about the possibility of a lawsuit against Campers World and/or its predecessor in interest America Choice RV. Good luck.
