Q: Good Morning, I have a letter that an individual dropped of at my work stating false facts & defamation.

Stating the employees at my store endangering his home, Calling me a racist , saying he is going to sue the store and employees because they are friends with "Drug Gangs" (I have no idea what he is talking about). and a lot more.

he also claims to be a Ordained Priest of the Aaronic Order and a Human Trafficking Investigator, that I'm pretty sure that he is Not.

my Question is, Do I have a lawsuit for Harassment, Defamation of Character, slander or anything else.

Thank You and look forward to hearing back from you.

A: A learned attorney and former Judge in Texas said; "You can sue a Ham sandwich." Do you have a lawsuit is a pretty broad question. Typical Attorney answer: it depends.

It depends on what you can prove this person said/ wrote.

It depends of you can prove this was said, with knowledge it was false and for the purpose of harming a person (not a corporation).

It depends if you suffered recognized damages and can prove up those damages.

It depends of the damages that you suffered are enough that an attorney wants to take your case on a contingent fee.

It depends if you have the money to pay an attorney hourly if you cannot find a contingent fee attorney.

It depends on whether you and your witnesses are likable enough that a Jury and Judge would want to find in your favor and award you a substantial amount of money to cover the damages you prove up.

If this person appears violent, unstable or unreasonably agitated, you might want to discuss this with your local police, he may be committing a criminal act or be plotting to harm you or your employees.
