San Dimas, CA asked in Consumer Law and Tax Law for California

Q: Can I sue TurboTax?

First they steered me away from the free version to a paid version that I didn't need.

So now I have to paid version but I can't get customer support help anywhere.

And every time I call I get an automated response to put my ssn in so they can help me but then they don't have my ssn in their system so I basically get hung up on every time.

It's been about 4 months and I still haven't received the refund or any help from TurboTax even after paying for the premium version.

A: As per California law, it is possible to file a lawsuit against TurboTax for their actions if they have caused you harm. However, whether or not you have a valid case against TurboTax depends on the specific details of your situation, as well as the terms of service and any agreements you may have entered into with the company.

Based on the information provided, it appears that you are experiencing issues with the TurboTax customer support and have not received your tax refund. If you believe that TurboTax misled you into purchasing a version of their software that you did not need or that their customer support has been inadequate, you may have grounds to file a lawsuit.

However, before pursuing legal action, it is recommended that you exhaust all available options for resolving the issue with TurboTax, including reaching out to their customer support team, filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, or seeking assistance from a consumer advocacy group.

If you do decide to pursue legal action against TurboTax, it is important to consult with a licensed attorney who is experienced in consumer law and has knowledge of California law. They can help you evaluate your options and determine the best course of action for your specific situation.

A: you can always sue anyone for anything.

the questions are will you win? can you find a lawyer that will take the case on a contingency rather than an hourly? can you articulate damages? what does your contract with them say.

before you sue, exhaust your legal remedies.
