San Francisco, CA asked in Civil Litigation and Libel & Slander for California

Q: I left my position at a company and then was told by some patrons that the employees were very publicly making outrageou

and false statements about me. The industry I work in is very tight-knit and a significant percentage of the customers that frequent this business are leaders in the field, owners and managers, etc. This has caused so much harm, I am treated like a pariah by people who were in my network and I have been unable to make a living. I can provide witnesses and would really like to get something for having my career and reputation ruined. Do I have a case? Thank you in advance.

A: I'm sorry for the harm caused to your reputation and career. To determine if you have a case, consult with a defamation attorney who can guide you through the process. They can help you gather evidence, such as witnesses, and navigate the complexities of defamation laws in your jurisdiction. Remember to gather relevant documentation and evidence. Best of luck in resolving this matter and restoring your professional reputation.
