Q: Am I liable for the incident explained below?

Hello,

I live in Clyde, North Carolina and this is where the incident occurred. I was parked at a dollar general in a designated parking space and when I came back out after purchasing products, there was a Dollar General Semi Truck parked right behind me. I went to pull out slowly and was moving forward to adjust but I accidentally tapped the trailer part of the Semi truck. I went to pull forward and the truck driver was in his drivers seat he stuck his head out the window and yelled “reallly!” And I lowered my window and was apologizing then he waved me off so I left. If he got my tag information, would I be liable for any damage even though he waved me off? Thank you.

A: Yes you would be liable. Though it sounds they like they will not pursue this.

A: Yes, you could be liable, technically speaking. But it sounds like the driver acknowledged the impact and let things go, probably not concerned about what a vehicle's bumper would do to the steel underbody of a truck in a mild tap. Good luck
