A: In California, once you've reached an agreement through a settlement conference and have a stipulation order signed by the judge, the next steps involve finalizing your divorce. You'll need to complete and file a few specific forms to obtain your final judgment of divorce. These forms include the Judgment form (FL-180) and the Notice of Entry of Judgment (FL-190), along with any other forms that pertain to your specific agreements on custody, support, and property division, such as the Child Custody and Visitation (Parenting Time) Order Attachment (FL-341), Spousal or Partner Support Final Judgment Attachment (FL-343), and the Property Order Attachment to Judgment (FL-345), if applicable.

Ensure that all the forms are filled out correctly and reflect the agreements made during your settlement conference. It's crucial that these documents are thorough and accurately represent the stipulation order. Once completed, you'll need to file these forms with the court clerk. The court may require both parties to review and sign off on these forms before submission, depending on your local court rules.

After filing, you do not typically need to request a court hearing if your documents are in order and there are no disputes. However, serving the other party with the Notice of Entry of Judgment is necessary to officially inform them that the judgment has been entered. The procedure for serving these documents can vary, so it's advisable to check with your local court for specific instructions. Once all paperwork is processed and approved by the court, your divorce will be finalized, and you will receive the final judgment, marking the official end to your marriage.
