A: Under California law, if you are experiencing disability-related issues, you have the right to reasonable accommodations that align with your specific needs. This includes modifications or adjustments to ensure equal access and opportunity within educational institutions like UCSB. The Disabled Students Program (DSP) at UCSB is responsible for assessing and providing such accommodations based on documented needs. You should reach out to them for assistance with library access, rest spaces, and any harassment issues due to disabilities.

For access outside of regular hours to Davidson Library, you may need a letter of affiliation or a special pass, especially if your research and presence are under the California Arts Council grant and you are not formally affiliated with UCSB. Typically, the granting department or office, such as the Arts Council or a sympathetic academic department, could facilitate this by recognizing your contribution and status akin to a visiting scholar. It's important to communicate your specific needs and how they relate to your disability and research requirements.

Regarding your dietary needs and access to food services, the UCSB housing and food services department, in coordination with the DSP, can work together to provide suitable solutions. Express your specific food requirements and health issues to them. They are obligated to accommodate your dietary needs under the same ADA guidelines. If standard food options available on campus do not meet your dietary needs due to health reasons, they should assist in providing alternatives. Always keep open communication with the relevant departments and document your requests and their responses.
