Q: Can an employer withhold information for an employee insurance policy?
I applied for insurance through my employer within the allotted deadline. I was a full-time regular employee and had been paying the premiums out of my paycheck for two months. No membership card arrived in the mail. After calling the insurance company, I discovered that no plan exists associated with my social security number nor with any other identifying information. HR has only offered me a group number for the insurance policy. The third party company that they use will not provide me any information other than to call the insurance company directly. I am being charged for a policy that I cannot access nor use as intended.
