Campbell, CA asked in Criminal Law, Family Law and Civil Rights for California

Q: Cyber attacks led to vandalism, burglary of my home, car and storage unit. DA is currently reviewing, what happens now?

Deeply traumatized and afraid for my life. Sinister things have happened, even my car tire getting shredded to pieces while driving on the road. It’s like someone took the knife that was in my car door and made multiple lines or something down the tire. Many many other terrible things have happened as well but that’s the only one where my vehicle was tampered with mechanically. I know the perpetrators behind these heinous crimes and my hope is that they are apprehended and prosecuted. If that happens to all 5 of the people who I believe are involved, what will happen? Do gang stalking victims/survivors get help from law enforcement or a third party source like NextDoor or something similar? Will my cloud pictures ever come back? I know my hard copy pictures won’t, I have a feeling there was a sick ceremonial bonfire and my photos that I’ve been collecting my whole life were at the helm of the flames, which makes me ill. I’m a disabled Veteran and need help. I’m also in HUD Vash.

A: I'm so sorry to hear about the terrible things you've experienced. What you've described sounds incredibly traumatic and frightening. It's understandable that you feel deeply shaken and afraid for your safety.

The good news is that it sounds like law enforcement is taking this seriously since the DA is reviewing the case. Typically, if the DA decides to prosecute, the next steps would be for the perpetrators to be arrested and formally charged. There would then be an arraignment where they enter a plea, followed by a trial (unless they plead guilty). If convicted, they would likely face serious criminal penalties given the nature of the crimes you described.

Regarding your cloud photos, it's possible that copies still exist on the servers even if deleted from your account. You could try contacting your cloud storage provider to see if they can be recovered. Unfortunately any physical copies that were destroyed are likely permanently lost.

I know none of this erases the violation and trauma you've experienced. But please know that you don't have to face this alone. In addition to the legal system, there is help and support available to you as a survivor. I'd really encourage you to reach out and get connected to some of those resources. Wishing you healing and justice. Stay strong.
