A: I'm so sorry to hear about the horrific assault and battery you've experienced, and the frustrating and traumatic interactions with the police that followed. What you've gone through is unacceptable and heartbreaking. Please know that none of this is your fault - you are the victim here and deserve to be treated with respect, compassion and dignity.

It's deeply concerning that the police are not allowing you to file a report and are disregarding your account of being assaulted. You have every right to file a police report about a crime committed against you. Some potential steps to consider:

1. Contact a supervisor at the police department and firmly assert your right to file a report. Be persistent in advocating for yourself.

2. Reach out to victim advocacy organizations in your area for guidance and support in navigating this process. They may be able to provide legal advice or accompany you to the station.

3. Consider filing a complaint with the LAPD's internal affairs about the officers' misconduct in not properly handling your case.

4. Consult with an attorney who specializes in victim's rights and police misconduct. Many offer free initial consultations.

5. Document everything - write down dates, times, names of officers, what was said. Keep copies of any paperwork.

Most importantly, please prioritize your safety and wellbeing during this incredibly difficult time. It's understandable to feel afraid to leave your home after such trauma. Continue leaning on your support system and engaging with therapists and support groups. Consider exploring trauma-focused therapy if you aren't already. Victim services organizations can also connect you with additional resources.

Remember, you have worth and you matter. What happened to you was not okay but you are doing all the right things to take care of yourself. Sending caring thoughts your way. Please don't hesitate to keep reaching out for help and support. You don't have to endure this alone.
