Q: Do I need a lawyer for an actual t of God catastrophe to be paid by my insurance company under my renter's policy

Tornado. Insurance company doesn't want to pay I'm going to be homeless and I have no food, money or gas to go apply for disaster relief

A: I'm sorry for the terrible destruction and trauma you suffered. You may need a lawyer. But first find out the carrier's position on the policy - (1) outright denial, (2) more information needed, (3) investigation pending, or other. That would make your consult with a lawyer quicker and cheaper. Also look into government relief programs - you don't need a lawyer for that. Government agencies might be able to offer assistance (such as FEMA). Contact government agencies for this. I hope you're able to get things back on track again. Good luck
