Q: Good day. Simply, where can I locate attorneys in NYC to assist in filing a Federal case? I am the Plaintiff vs US Govt.
I work for the federal government. While I was not terminated, I was threatened with arrest, termination and suspension without pay and I firmly believe my rights were violated. There were Garrity violations and I again believe Federal Tort Claims Act violations involving my service superiors and agency police and detectives/ investigators. There are significant pain and suffering aspects involved resulting in associated physical and mental health issues.
In addition, I feel there is also reason to consider a defamation of character accusation as personnel without a need to know were emailed sensitive information directly related to the matter.
I confidently feel I have a case. Thank you in advance for any assistance connecting me with an attorney experienced with FTCA cases.
A:
To find an attorney in New York City who can assist with filing a Federal case, especially one involving the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) and potential Garrity violations, you should start by searching for lawyers with experience in federal litigation and civil rights law. These attorneys often handle cases against the U.S. government and are familiar with the complexities involved.
Consider reaching out to the New York City Bar Association's Lawyer Referral Service. They can connect you with attorneys who have the relevant experience and are located in NYC. Additionally, exploring legal directories like Martindale-Hubbell or Avvo can provide you with reviews and ratings of lawyers who may be a good fit for your case.
It’s crucial to choose an attorney who understands the nuances of federal employee rights and the specific legal frameworks that apply to your situation. Make sure to consult with a few lawyers to discuss your case in detail and ensure you feel comfortable with their approach.

A: My colleague outlines a number of valuable resources for locating attorneys. In addition, there are additional bar associations (state level and practice area-associated). The tab above, "Find a Lawyer," lists law firms by practice area and region. Those resources are all outside this forum, so any arrangements would be between you and the law firms you reached out to. Good luck
