A: To find out where your child is, start by contacting the child's mother for his location. If she refuses, consider hiring a lawyer or private investigator, or seek help from friends, family, or social media. Consult a family law attorney in your state or where your child may be to determine if your parental rights were terminated and to guide you through regaining custody or visitation.
A:
It sounds like you're in a tough situation and want to reconnect with your son. The first step is to gather any information you have about his current location. This could be through family members, friends, or any past contacts you have with his mother. If you have any legal documents from the time you were asked to sign papers, review them to understand what rights, if any, you may have given up.
Next, consider reaching out to a family law attorney in your area who can guide you through the process of locating your child. They can help you understand your legal rights and what steps you can take to establish visitation or custody. If you can't afford an attorney, there are legal aid organizations that offer support at little or no cost.
You may need to file a petition with the court to request custody or visitation rights, especially if your rights were terminated or if you haven't had contact in a while. The court will consider what's in the best interest of your child, which includes having both parents involved in their life, if possible. Showing the court your commitment and readiness to be a part of your son's life can make a big difference. Stay strong, and take it step-by-step—you're doing the right thing by wanting to be there for your child.
