A: It sounds like you're in a tough spot with child support and your ability to manage your financial responsibilities. California does have guidelines for child support, and for three or more children, up to 50% of your take-home pay can be allocated. However, leaving you with so little to live on could impact your ability to continue working and supporting your children.

If you believe that the current arrangement is unmanageable, you might want to consider requesting a modification of the child support order. Courts can review changes in circumstances like income or expenses, which could potentially result in adjustments. It’s important to present clear documentation of your financial situation.

Balancing your responsibilities to your children while also being able to maintain a basic standard of living is essential. Getting this issue addressed quickly might prevent further financial hardship down the line.
