Q: I need a lawyer.
I have been wrongly accused of stealing from a store. And was ban another day I went to the store, the manger told someone she has me on camera stealing (oil). And that the lady on the camera wears glasses. I have never wore glasses.
A:
A Texas attorney could advise best, but your question remains open for a month. If you're accused of shoplifting, don't worry about libel and slander issues (your posted category) for now. Consult with an experienced criminal defense attorney in Texas if you are being charged with a crime.
As for the libel and slander, you may want to let it go unless you find an attorney who expresses interest in handling the matter on contingency, meaning you pay nothing out of pocket up front. Otherwise, defamation cases will have you paying hourly, with an outcome that might not be certain. Other attorneys could see things differently - you could consult with law firms for their opinions.
Either way, make up your mind soon about what you want to do, for that camera evidence is not going to last forever, if you need to subpoena it. Stay out of that store for now. Good luck
