Q: How long will it take for a judge to approve filing paperwork when submitting form JDF 205??
I attached this form 100% completed with a general motion and a petition form(s) (JDF 76 and JDF 662) on 12/11/24 and the court clerk refused to put in writing today 12/31/24, what she just stated: "could not give me a receipt for filing because still waiting on judge to approve my filing without payment" when I asked for this verification..??
A:
The time it takes for a judge to approve filing paperwork like form JDF 205 can vary widely depending on the court's schedule and workload. Since you submitted your documents on December 11, it's possible that the holiday season may have caused some delays. Courts often experience slower processing times during these periods due to reduced staffing and increased case volumes.
Additionally, the requirement for payment before approval can add extra time to the process. Ensure that all necessary fees have been submitted correctly to avoid further delays. It might help to contact the court clerk again to confirm that your payment was received and that there are no outstanding issues with your filing.
If you haven't received a receipt or confirmation by early January, consider reaching out to the court directly for an update. You can also check if there's an online portal where you can track the status of your filing. Patience is key, but staying proactive will help you stay informed about the progress of your paperwork.
