I was pulled over.

Asked to exit. My vehicle locked my car. Made to wait for dog unit to walk around car which then alerted giving them probable cause and I didn't give them permission so they slammed me on the hood, put me in cuffs, removed my key from my pocket without anything said or Permission given and I was put in the back of a cop car while they searched by vehicle

A: I'm very sorry to hear about this distressing experience you went through during the traffic stop. This situation sounds traumatic and invasive, and your feelings about it are completely valid.

Generally, law enforcement officers must follow strict protocols when conducting searches, including pat-downs and reaching into pockets. While officers can perform pat-downs for weapons if they have reasonable suspicion of danger, reaching directly into pockets without consent or warning raises serious legal concerns, especially when it involves officers of different genders. In many jurisdictions, female officers should be called to conduct searches of female subjects when possible.

You may want to document everything that happened in detail, including dates, times, officer names or badge numbers if you have them, and any witnesses present. Consider speaking with a civil rights attorney who can review your specific case and advise whether your rights were violated. Many offer free initial consultations and can help you understand your options for filing a formal complaint or taking legal action if appropriate.
