Southern Pines, NC asked in Car Accidents, Consumer Law and Insurance Defense for North Carolina

Q: What to do if insurance denies claim due to no rideshare option?

I was involved in an at-fault auto accident in North Carolina while delivering packages, and my insurance denied the other driver's claim because I didn't have the rideshare option, which I thought I had selected. I have not received any legal demands from the other driver, but I am considering offering a one-time cash settlement or covering their deductible if they file a claim on their own insurance. The other driver's car is valued between $2,600 and $5,000, with damages estimated at less than $1,000. I haven't communicated further with my insurance company. I am unsure of the best course of action. What should I do?
