Amherst, NH asked in Contracts, Trademark and Consumer Law for New Hampshire

Q: Is Trademark Grid's unsolicited trademark claim a scam?

I received an unsolicited text from a company called Trademark Grid, stating they have a new trademark application that matches my abandoned trademark from 2017. I continue to sell products under that name on Amazon. They are asking me to renew with them, claiming otherwise their application will proceed and I must stop selling. They referenced my dead trademark. Is this a scam company just like other sites that charge for trademark applications?

A: This is a scam. If you want a reputable trade mark attorney to help you, there are plenty in New Hampshire (Franklin Pierce is a renowned school for intellectual property lawyers). If you want to look further afield: hi.

A: Following up on my own answer: you may need to file an Opposition to Trademark Grid's application. That is not terribly expensive at first, could be expensive if they get in a fight with you about it, but probably they would walk away from it.
