Q: Stepson is 18, graduates in May Is May our last payment? Do we need to go to court to stop (we just write check)

We pay child support at bank every month, it isn't through the state. Can we also drop health insurance or do we need to go to court for that?

If stepson is youngest, then yes you can stop writing check in May. No you cannot drop health insurance until age 26 if he attends college. Have you heard of Corona virus?

Q: What is the statute of limitations regarding suing for back child support in Louisiana? My daughter is 17.

Her father hasn't paid for insurance or any set amount of support since 2010. My job and income have fluctuated over the last 10 years. Her father's job has been the same, but with earnings increases, bonuses, etc.

You can only go back 10 years. So if he hasn't paid since 2010 you need to hurry up.

Your subsequent children Nd subsequent spouse do not affect your child support.

If you have other children you need to file a Motion to Reduce. If you pay by wage assignment you need to file a Motion to Terminate. If neither of these pay, you can stop paying 1 Jun 2020.

Unfortunately you can't. Members of the State Legialature passed a statute that absolves those incarcerated from child support.

Q: Is a fathers child support obligation decreased if he voluntarily takes a pay cut?

To be home more (he worked offshore now moving to the office) after paying the same amount for 6 years?

If the court determines he's voluntarily underemployed, then he can't use his pay cut to get a decrease in support. The court would look at what he has the ability to earn.

If the child is older than 5, then both parents are imputed income, even if they don't work.

Both parents income,

prior obligations of support,

special needs of the child and prior dependents (like tutoring, braces, elder care, medication),

the age of the child;

These are all factors in setting child support. Hire a child support lawyer.

Q: Daughter father lawyer up

My daughter father didn’t agree on amount when went to child support court so he asked for a lawyer and the date pushed back. Can a lawyer stop him from paying child support? Or lower his portion? I can’t afford a lawyer so what shall I do?

Q: We just found out my 14 year old step son is not my husbands child through DNA. How so we stop state child support

The mother is trying to move out of state. She revealed to the child in october that my husband was not his father. They found his father, they have met, we found all this out 3 days ago. Son is no longer speaking to my husband. Can we ask the state to stop child support?

Your husband will have to file a Petition to Disavow Paternity. He has to do this within one year of finding out he's not the father.

You can always pay it all off or get a payment plan from the State. But if you don't, they will take your refund.

Not enough information provided. However personal injury settlements and disability can be intercepted for child support.

Joint custody has little effect on child support. Even shared custody can result in child support if there is a disparity in your incomes.

Q: Back child support across states

Step FIL had his back child support dropped in Arizona 6 years ago. Can his ex file for the payments in Louisiana? Both kids are adults.

If so, can they touch the inheritance from his family or the account he shares with my MIL or is it just wage garnishment?
