Q: My mother passed we got a wrongful death suit my step father was made HOE and did not follow through on all terms.

Q: I was arrested for a crime and got my court date a few days ago court papers have different charges. Why?

Was arrested for burglary and prowling then later possession with intent was added. Court papers state theft by taking and trespassing nothing on possession I don’t understand. I cannot afford a attorney

Regarding the charges themselves, a District Attorney has the right to dismiss, modify, or upgrade charges based upon his/her evaluation of the case. Bottom line, they do not have to do what the police arrest you for.

Q: Do lawyers accept anti-SLAPP cases on contingency?

Realizing that this largely depend on the individual case, is it common or uncommon for attorneys to accept anti-SLAPP cases on contingency in states with statutes that require the court to award legal fees in successful anti-SLAPP motions?

It would be very uncommon to see a contingency fee on an anti-SLAPP lawsuit because their is no guarantee of payment even if the case is successful.
