Brooklyn, NY asked in Employment Discrimination and Employment Law for New York

Q: Is it discrimination, bulling or scapegoating? How can I stop it?

I'm the only foreigner in my department. My boss referees to me only as "you" while st others calls by name. Also for ither employees he brigs signed documents in person but for me he lives them at another floor without even letting me know that he left them there. He also talks to me only through 3rd party people. I feel humiliated and miserable what can I do? He clearly is showing his hostility and favorism for others.

A: Have you asked him why he does that?

If he is not approachable go to human resources and tell them what you think is happening.

There may be an explanation but "you" is probably because he either can not pronounce your name correctly or is afraid of mispronouncing it or simply does not remember it.

If you lost your job and called one of us we would ask you " did you tell the company or human resources what was happening"?

You have a duty to tell them. They have a duty to try to address the issue. Good luck.

A: Maybe yes, maybe no. He will certainly deny it so if there is a pattern of discriminatory conduct you must document it extremely thoroughly and bring it up to the human resources department who should have a procedure in place to deal with such allegations. Best of luck.
