Tobyhanna, PA asked in Employment Discrimination and Employment Law for New York

Q: How to take legal action against an employer for hostile work environment, discrimination, harassment?

I was employed by Kartan trucking company for the past 9 years. I worked with Kartan Trucking company as a subcontractor for my own messenger/courier service,Lag Express. During the time I spent working with Kartan, I experienced harassment on numero us occasions from co-workers and management. I was also victim of discrimination from my management. As a direct result of defraud by management and these stressful working conditions I was forced out of my job and have come under extreme financial, emotional distress. I would like to know what the procedure and steps would be in regards to taking legal action or whether or not I even have a case.

A: Please consult with an employment lawyer sooner than later. Statutes of limitation run 300 days or 1 year from when you were fired. If you quit that will require a very careful analysis. If you were an IC that could be even more complicated.
