Q: Can I sue if my last job did not pay me for training?
I got fired from the job because I apparently didn't sell products. I only worked there for a day and a half, but the manager says that I don't get paid since it was only training.
A: Have you contacted the New York State Department of Labor to inquire? If the training was of sole benefit to your employer the DOL will likely be interested. If the training benefits you for other jobs, for your career, or in other ways then maybe not. They will probably examine position descriptions, advertisements, application, the curriculum for the training you completed, the circumstances surrounding your not working, etc... and decide.
