Q: Signed Constructn Contrct March28,2018.Suppose to be 6wks to rehab house.Total bid $28k, I gav $19k cash but No workDONE

Contractor hired from a referral website called Thumbtack.com. I got several estimates before I chose him. We agreed that he fix home just the minimum needed so I can move into it. Because I'm staying in a hotel with my dog. I was in a hurry its too expensive. Contractor told me he take only 6weeks to complete work. Okay I sign contract. End date was to be April 28 2018. Total charge is $28,600 and he wants 3 installments of $6000 each.Last payment I can pay when work complete. I gave right away $6400 cash to begin on same day we sign contract. In two weeks I gave another $6000 in cash and the following 2 weeks after I deposited cash of $6000 into contractor Chase Bank account. Contractor no longer went back to work at my house. Im stuck in hotel paying high fees and no house. He only started to take off rotten wood from patio and he said he did rewiring thru out but I doubt it.No work done reflecting $19000.When I ask him for receipts/accounting He reply that he Will contact his lawyer
