Pacoima, CA asked in Employment Law and Employment Discrimination for California

Q: What can I do if my boss is harassing/persecuting me?

Her unjust evaluation of my performance will cost me employment in the second largest school district in the nation. I am very clearly treated differently than other employees. Although she has requested certain things from me when it comes to my performance, I have done all that she asked for and she is still giving me a negative evaluation. I have documented emails, meeting notes, and proof of my efforts and her requests, and how inconsistent her perception of me is.

A: One thing you can do is go to the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) website and file a claim of discrimination if you think you are being treated differently than other female employees. Cut and paste this link into your browser: https://www.dfeh.ca.gov/

You can access the claim form online, and then you can fill it out. Follow the instructions they give, and let them do their investigation.

You can also go to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) website: https://www.eeoc.gov/

and go through the same process. The EEOC will investigate your employer, which will definitely get your employer's attention.

Either way, you can start this process on your own, and if the EEOC, for example, lets you know they think you have a viable claim, then you can start looking for a good employment discrimination lawyer to help you. There are many good lawyers in the Southern California area who can help you. Do your research and find one with whom you are comfortable.
