A: For SSI, countable resources are limited to $2,000 for an individual and $3,000 for a couple. However, Social Security does not count the home the SSI recepient lives in and the land it is on. Therefore, you could transfer the home to the SSI recipient without affecting benefits if he does not currently own a home and he will use this home as his residence.
