Q: if I was laid off from work, is it legal for the employers to put an ad out hiring for my same position?

A: There is nothing inherently unlawful about the above situation. Since Maryland is an at-will employment state, you can be laid off or terminated at any time and for any reason or no reason at all, as long as the reason isn't discriminatory.
