Q: Due to a credit card debt, my bank account is likely to be soon levied.

A: Contact the agency or creditor that plans to levy your bank account to ask if there is an exemption form you can use.

Check the exemptions available in your state or county. You may be able to claim exemptions for certain types of property, such as household goods or tools of the trade, or for specific amounts of money.

Download the exemption form if it is available online or ask the agency to provide it to you.

Read the instructions carefully to ensure you are filling out the form correctly.

Complete the form, providing accurate and complete information.

Attach any required documentation, such as proof of income or ownership of exempt property.

Submit the form to the agency or creditor before the deadline.

It may also be helpful to seek the assistance of a legal professional, such as a bankruptcy attorney, who can advise you on your rights and help you navigate the exemption process
