A: You have the right to exercise your constitutional rights and gather with whomever you desire, as long as you are not trespassing on someone's property or causing or creating a nuisance. Learn everything you can about the local city's municipal codes by going to the public library and using one of their open computers to learn what you can about their vagrancy and loitering laws, because being forewarned is to be forearmed and prepared.

A: If you are being harassed by police while homeless, it's important to stay calm and polite while asserting your rights. You have the right to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures, and you also have the right to be free from harassment and discrimination.

You can tell the police that you are aware of your rights, and that you do not consent to any searches or seizures of your property without a warrant or probable cause. You can also ask the police for their names and badge numbers, and make a note of any interactions you have with them.

If the police give you tickets or arrest you, it's important to follow up with a lawyer or legal aid organization to understand your options for contesting the charges or seeking relief.

Finally, you may also consider reaching out to local advocacy organizations or social service agencies for support and resources, such as housing assistance, legal aid, or food and shelter programs.
