A: I am a California attorney. If your son has been slandered by a local newspaper and it is negatively affecting his ability to find employment, he may have a potential claim for defamation. Defamation occurs when false statements are published or communicated to others, causing harm to a person's reputation. It is important to consult with an attorney to discuss the specific details of the case and determine the best course of action to address the slanderous publication and its impact on your son's job prospects. - James Arrasmith, Owner.
