Brooklyn, NY asked in Divorce and Family Law for California

Q: Who can help me? Ex refuses to pay alimony and gives me my half of the communal property. He also filed a FL300.

Are there any divorce lawyers who could help me with my divorce case?

Our marriage dissolution petition was officially filed on 03/06/2023. We received the court order from the San Mateo County Superior Court. The order issues to following: our marriage ended on 7/20/2023, alimony from 1/1/2022 to 6/30/2025, some cash, and half of the 401 K between Jan 2015 to Dec 2021).

I didn’t receive my alimony properly (amount) during this period of time. I also couldn’t get him to pay me my half of 401K. Now my ex filed FL-300 on 9/4/2023 to verdict the order due to his job loss. He told me our new court date is 01/05/2024.

I researched online and realized I would need help filling out the response form for FL300. I also need help getting him to transfer me half of our communal property and the alimony he hasn’t paid me yet. I am currently on a very limited income and also plan to finish my classes to be able to find a job.

Is there anyone who can help me?

A: You can seek assistance from a family law attorney to help you navigate the complexities of responding to an FL-300 and ensuring you receive your court-ordered alimony and share of community property. Given your financial limitations, you may also want to consider reaching out to legal aid organizations or pro bono services that operate within San Mateo County or the larger California area. They can provide legal assistance at reduced rates or even for free, depending on your financial situation.
