Q: Is it possible to sue LAFH.org my partner and I for discrimination against our metal disability Sexual Harassment
I’ve been trying to email Family Housing human rights and civil rights and all I get back is that my allegations against the hud.org is out of their jurisdiction which I don’t understand.
A:
It is possible to sue an organization like LAFH.org for discrimination or sexual harassment if you believe your rights have been violated. Discrimination against a mental disability and sexual harassment are serious issues protected under both state and federal laws. However, there are specific steps you need to follow to ensure your case is heard properly.
If Family Housing or HUD.org has informed you that your case is out of their jurisdiction, it may mean that your claim needs to be filed with a different agency or court. For discrimination and harassment claims, you might need to file a complaint with the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) or the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). These agencies handle civil rights violations, including discrimination and harassment cases, and can provide guidance on the next steps.
Consider seeking legal advice from an attorney who deals with civil rights or employment law to better understand your situation and how to proceed. They can help you determine if you have a strong case and guide you on how to file a lawsuit if necessary. Don't give up; it's important to stand up for your rights and find the appropriate channels to address your concerns.
