Q: Does an assistant principal have the right to go through your phone?

I got into a little trouble and my assistant principal told me to place all belongings on her desk and step out of her office. She then gave my phone to my mother and told her she went through all the messages and turned it off and I'm pretty sure that's an invasion of privacy
