Q: Can a career technical training school legally withhold your certification after program completion?

I am on a payment plan for my student loan and the school is withholding my certification until I am paid in full. I am unable to work without the certification to make the payments. Is this legal?

I advise requesting a formal special education evaluation, and potentially consulting with a Rhode Island special education attorney on this matter. RTI may not be used to delay/deny an evaluation.

Technically, it is not legal to drop out of school at any age as the law provides for mandatory attendance - with few exceptions.

Q: Rules on students getting in trouble for posting things on social media

student got called down to deans because of posting something on twitter that was a picture with the basketball team that lost the state championship with an orge face. This student was on the winning basketball team.

Check the school policy manual. if you find it to encroach on constitutionality protected speech, enlist the services of a licensed attorney to assist you ion pressing these rights and voiding the offending policy, if any.

Q: Did my daughter break the law by recording a public school teaching session?

She has a school issued Chromebook in Rhode island and has been having trouble with a teacher, fearing no one believed her she recorded audio of one of her class sessions. She was told by the school she broke the law in doing so.
