There's nothing stopping her from suing you for the cost of the transmission or for fraud. The real question is whether or not she would be successful. Yes if he said it was ready to mow. You can take him to small claims though if he is a friend might make sense to have a mower mechanic look at it and say what is wrong and give you an estimate of what it'll take to fix it.
