Q: My brother is 17 and got hit by the other driver which was clearly the other driver's fault. can he get into trouble?

My brother was waiting on a traffic light about to turn right. He wasn't moving but had right turn signal on. The other car came out of nowhere to his right (probably the other driver was driving on sidewalk) and he hit my brother on the right side of our car making the car undrivable. It... View More

He does have a problem here. He was cited, and it sounds like the damage is going to make it look like he probably hit the other car. He really ought to get an attorney.

Q: I was injured at a friend's farm while helping to bring her horses in. Are there legal limits on horse liability in OH?

My ER bill was about $3000. My medical insurance company required details about the injury and where it happened. My medical insurance company wants to contact her insurance company for reimbursement. We want to settle this as amiably as we can, without insurance involvement if possible. My med... View More

Your question is a bit unclear. There are no special limits on liability having to do with horses, but that doesn't really seem to be the point of your post. If your insurance company paid out, it has a right to seek reimbursement whether you want to settle the matter amicably or not. If you... View More

On the third DUS, the chance of getting jail time is real. Each court is a little different. If you are dealing with a busy court in a big city, it is less likely. If you are dealing with a small town court, it is more likely. You should get an attorney in either case. As to your second question,... View More

Ohio does not have a legal process to emancipate a child. Under certain circumstances, a judge may find that a child is emancipated, but at 14 that will never happen.

Q: I am 20 years old and my girlfriend is 17. We got caught smoking weed 6 months ago

I received a ovi and a drug charge. She revived a drug charge as well. We've been together 4 years now. A few days ago she got a no contact order against me. She just told me she might be pregnant. Will they revoke the no contact order? Will I go to jail. What are the possible outcomes I might face?

It's impossible to say what exactly they will do with the no contact order without understanding the reasons for which she obtained it. Jail is rather unlikely. I am assuming the two of you were sexual intimate and this child may well be yours. As long as sex was consensual and she was over... View More

Yes, as odd as this sounds, it is illegal for you to possess, create, solicit, distribute, or otherwise have anything at all to do with a nude picture of her, but technically, you two could have a legal, private, sexual relationship. Weird right?

More information is needed to answer your question. If the lawsuit is a private matter between the POA and the family member, then of course they can. If it has something to do with individual who gave the POA that authority, probably not.
