Q: My landlord took rent, said i didnt pay, then evicted lme b/c Clerk didnt accept my docs. Seek justice y or n

I have receipts of payments. Also landlady foundout i had HIV and doesnt want ‘those’ people. Said she wanted a couple (man and woman.

I didnt get my day in court becaude clerk rejected my docs on minor technical formality issues. I hired someone..a tenant lawyer i hired fleeced me for 1100 and did no work. Blocked my number etc. a nightmare. I live on SSI so that wiped me out.

Id like to countersue my landlord for this mess, the stress even put me in the hospital and had my first and hopefully last spinal tap. Upended my life completely.

And i want to try and get my money back from the crooked lawyer and prevent them doing this to other people. Any ideas?

A: First things first. Report the lawyer you paid to the State Bar of California. You can go to the website (https://www.calbar.ca.gov/) and click the link to file a complaint against a lawyer.

Next, you may have a claim against your landlord for discrimination in housing if you can prove she evicted you because you have HIV. You can go to the website for the California Civil Rights Department here: https://calcivilrights.ca.gov/, where you will find a link to Housing Discrimination. Click that link and you will learn how to file a discrimination complaint against your landlady.

You will next want to find a competent lawyer to help you with your discrimination and other claims against your landlord. You can go to the website for the Bar association for the county in which you live. They will have a lawyer's referral service which should help you find an attorney who will help you.

Stay positive.
