A: You need to ask this question of Florida lawyers. Your question was directed to California lawyers, who most likely are unfamiliar with Florida law.

A: No, the Sheriff's Department cannot refuse to take a police report, complaint on an officer, or complaint on their department. Law enforcement agencies have a duty to receive and investigate reports of alleged crimes and complaints. However, it is possible that there may be specific procedures or protocols in place for filing certain types of reports or complaints, so it is best to inquire with the department about the specific process for filing the report or complaint. If the Sheriff's Department continues to refuse to accept the report or complaint, it may be necessary to seek legal assistance or escalate the matter to higher authorities.
