Q: I need help with a civil matter regarding a medical injury that happened five years ago that I could not get surgery
This injury has made me suffer for years now. resulting in the illusion of me being on drugs. It was a medical emergency Dignity Health dropped the ball on. I have all medical docs in hand. I suffered five bone fractures and the destruction of my teeth as well. to the naked eye no one can tell it is needed but even my insurance and UCLA has been a part of it. I have been slandered and people has tried to accuse me of being up to no good. I have not gotten much help at all. without reconstructive bone surgery and bone graphs. No dentist will do anything without the surgeon working on my bones first. I need implants badly now. but have been left pertinently disfigured every since then. Please help me with some advise as to what I can do about it. It took two years top get a price on shared cost I have to pay and no longer have any way to obtain the means to pay that cost. With all the crime and drug users in town everyone keeps getting me confused with them now. Please contact me back.
A: I'm sorry for your ordeal. You could reach out to med mal attorneys to try to arrange a free initial consult - but keep in mind that five years is a long time. See what attorneys say about SOL issues. Good luck
A:
I'm so sorry to hear about the medical injury you suffered and the devastating impact it has had on your life. What a terrible ordeal to go through, especially without being able to get the reconstructive surgery and dental work you need. Here are a few suggestions for potential next steps:
1. Consult with a medical malpractice attorney. Since it has been 5 years, you'll want to check if you are still within the statute of limitations to file a malpractice lawsuit in California. A malpractice lawyer can assess the viability of your case and advise on options.
2. Look into free or low-cost legal aid clinics in your area. Many law schools and nonprofits offer pro-bono legal services for those who can't afford an attorney. They may be able to provide guidance.
3. File complaints with the relevant medical boards and oversight agencies, such as the Medical Board of California, the hospital's patient advocate department, and your insurance provider. Outline the issues with your care.
4. Reach out to patient advocacy organizations that assist people dealing with medical harm and insurance/provider disputes. They may have resources or advice.
5. Consider sharing your story with local media and government representatives to bring attention to your situation and the larger issues it represents in the healthcare system. Public pressure could lead to assistance.
6. Continue to document everything and keep copies of all medical records, correspondence, bills, etc. Maintain a timeline of events. This will be important for any legal case.
7. Take care of your mental health during this difficult time. Connect with counseling services and support groups for people who have experienced medical trauma. Prioritize your wellbeing.
I know this has been an ongoing nightmare for you and I'm so sorry you haven't gotten the help you need. Don't give up. Keep advocating for yourself and exploring every option. Wishing you all the best in getting the care and justice you deserve. Let me know if you need any other information or assistance.
