A: Based on the situation you've described, here are some steps you might consider taking:

1. Seek legal representation: It's crucial to find an attorney who specializes in both family law and civil litigation, preferably with experience in cases involving minors and school-related incidents.

2. Document everything: Collect all relevant information, including any reports from the school, witness statements, and any evidence of the racial slurs or previous incidents of bullying.

3. Consider filing a counter-claim: Your attorney may advise filing a counter-claim against the other family for the racial harassment your son experienced.

4. Contact the school: Ensure the school is aware of the full situation, including the racial slurs. They may have policies and procedures in place to address such issues.

5. Look into anti-discrimination laws: California has strong anti-discrimination laws that may be relevant to your case.

To find legal representation, you could:

1. Contact the California State Bar's Lawyer Referral Service.

2. Reach out to local legal aid organizations that might offer free or low-cost services.

3. Consult with civil rights organizations that deal with racial discrimination cases.

Remember, it's important to act quickly to protect your family's rights. An experienced attorney can guide you through the legal process and help develop the best strategy for your case.
