Q: Is AKC "co-ownership" any problem in establishing clear ownership of a dog?

Probably no liability for you. Rescues and some breeders list themselves as a second contact when registering a microchip or a dog so there are more avenues of contact if the dog is lost. You have the dog....and possession is 9/10 of the law.

Do you have somewhere safe you can keep the dog that is not at your house? If so, you should move him there for safekeeping and so no one can take him from you until the ownership is established.
