The simple answer is the officer did give you a break as you could have gotten a ticket for obstructing traffic even if no traffic existed. You're not allowed to sit park or stand in a gridded area. Thank the cop pay the ticket and move on as they do not need to give you a chance to move your car.

Yes you can have both suspended and be convicted on both as they are separate, one is the license for your car and the other is the license for you. They are considered separate but have the same penalties for each offense. Get a lawyer as you face the loss of your license and even possible jail... View More

You're looking at a 302 $500 fine one-year loss of your driver's license and Community Service as determined by the court. Get yourself a good lawyer and insurance now on the car and you may be able to avoid this. Don't get a good lawyer and you may not be driving for the next year.

You are not immune from prosecution just yet. You will need to appear in court and attempt to resolve this summons. Since the car was a rental, the rental service should be able to provide you proof of insurance and registration of the vehicle. This evidence may be shown to the municipal court... View More

Q: I got a ticket in new jersey for making a u-turn in an intersection, that did not have any posted signs.

The officer said that it is illegal in the entire state to make a u-turn in an intersection. Is this true? I checked up the law that was written on the ticket- it only mentions where prohibited, over double yellow lines or within 500 feet of turn.

Q: I got a ticket for improper display of plates while the car was parked in my school parking lot. This was in NJ.

Unfortunately that would not be considered a winning defense. You best bet is to take off the license plate holder which is blocking the plate which is the general reason this ticket is given.
