The affidavit of amount due would disclose this, usually, in a mortgage foreclosure case.

A balloon mortgage must contain certain language, both at the top of the mortgage and right above the signature line. If the specific language is not included at both places, there is no balloon, basically.

Report it as a forged check to the local police where it occured.
