Based on what you've described here I would for sure contact a lawyer that is familiar with personal injury/premises liability matters. Finding a lawyer that is familiar w/Walmart claims would be a plus!

I can't explain why they did it off record as I was not there but in GAL cases wherein there is a minor involved the Court and court-appointed GAL have the minor's 'best interest' in mind so whatever the decision I assume it was believed to be the in minor's best interest.
