Was unsuccessful in this attempt, if the owners showed up in July, after we have about $1000 in the dog, what are the chances that we will lose the case in court of keeping her? She is microchipped and has her up to date rabies

Your chances of winning are pretty good, all things considered. Abandoned and unchipped all play out for you.
The dog catcher in my county says the shelter is at max capacity & he can't come and get it until the shelter has space, I don't have a lot of time to wait for this issue to be resolved, this stray is upsetting my own dogs.

No. The damages, if any, would be so small it would be throwing good money after bad to seek legal action against them.

The dog is in my name and was expensive and has been registered as a service dog. Would she be considered an asset that the individual suing me could claim?

Depends on the facts surrounding why the police were called and what was reported at the time of the call.
I already offered to pay vet fees and have a hearing for the court to tell me I have a vicious dog and make me lock it up. I just want to know if I can be sued and forced to buy them a replacement dog, as they are requesting.

Depends on the facts and circumstances surrounding the killing, but most likely yes.
I live in a small town in Ky. I don’t have shelter outside for my dogs because they never ate outside longer than 30 minutes to an hour. I never leave them outside with out me being home & able to let them in immediately.
I got a dog in 2017 at 8 weeks old with my ex-boyfriend (good terms, shared dog but she lived primarily with him). I purchased her and paid for everything for her, but documents all in my ex's name (including her microchip) as she lived in his house. She went missing end of Nov '22, then... View More

They verbally agreed on $20 a week (which doesn't even cover the cost of food). When F received the goat it was underweight from not being fed the proper nutrients. She can legally keep the goat until she is paid in full, at which point she will have to release the goat to the owner.
I have an invisible fence, but apparently someone called the animal control officer (in a neighboring county) & they left a notice on my door about my dogs. So I'm just curious if they have the jurisdiction in my county to do anything?
