You can use it as a defense in court, but it's ultimately going to down to who the judge believes. It would help if you had photographic proof that the black marks were there before the bed bug treatment.

Yes. A typical residential lease includes a provision prohibiting a business from operating out of the premises. Zoning might also prohibit it, but your strongest defense is a properly prepared lease.

Absolutely not. It does not matter who is necessarily on the lease, you are both occupants and still married. You need to seek the assistance of the court. Removal without notice may constitute an illegal eviction.

Do you have a copy of your lease, or can you get a copy of a similar lease from another tenant? Most leases explain what happens if the residence becomes uninhabitable due to fire or other cause. Q: My leasing company is requiring me to pay 4 months rent to end the lease, 60 day and two month penalty. Is this legal?

I have to provide 60 day notice, pay those two months and then pay a two month penalty at the end as well to get out. I've already moved due to work relocation but I am still continuing to pay there. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Q: Lease has a fee for getting a dog. Emailed landlord on how to pay but they have not responded. Wait for response to pay?

In lease states a fee if a dog is introduced to the unit. Does not state how to pay. I emailed landlord about it and asked how I should pay the fee. They have not responded for 10 days. Is it reasonable to wait until they respond with what method they want the payment before I pay?

Add the fee to your next rent check. Attach the check to a letter explaining the check represents rent + fee for the dog.

You do not have to stay. You typically remain liable for the rent, however.

You can file a lawsuit against the complex and/or property management company, but only if it is within 2 years from the date of the incident.
