Take it to vet and verify neglect. After that you should be protected. If no vet or vet doesn’t substantiate, return dog to uncle.

No, legally you can’t take the dog from

Him without his consent. However, if you won’t voluntarily give him back the dog, he would either have to call the police (who likely won’t do anything) or sue you and win to get the dog back.

Have the dog scanned for a microchip. If the dog is chipped, you should contact the Registered owner. If he is not chipped and there are no other signs of ownership, he is yours.

Q: Is there a law in Kentucky reguarding whether dogs have to be allowed into the house?

Was told one couldn't have a dog tied outside at all times. That pets must be left outside no more than 1 hour at a time & that they should be allowed inside each night & in extreme weather.

Dogs shouldn’t be tied out at all. They have to have food, water and shelter if they are going to be left outside all the time.

If he wasn’t awarded the dog in the divorce action, he doesn’t get the dog. End of story. You’ve had custody for two years and paid for everything. If he wanted the dog, he should have said so before the divorce. He’s out of luck unless you surrender the dog, regardless of what he says now.

Q: Can I sue for emotional damages or something along those lines? Can I file criminal charges for theft?

My father had me sign a paper which stated that I would be giving him custody of my 3 dogs beginning on 09/18/2019. You can sue for the value of the dogs you lost. The “contract” between you and dad is unenforceable, but you can’t get emotional damages from a breach of contract.
